Automobili Lamborghini. The makers of one of the best supercars on the globe. It all started when Ferruccio Lamborghini bought a Ferrari. Every great company has a legend who struggled a lot in his/her life to achieve that goal. The story of Lamborghini started when Ferruccio Lamborghini clashed with the Italian Titians in a car industry name Ferrari. Ferruccio Lamborghini was a successful businessman who rewarded himself for creating some good and effective tractors in his tractor-manufacturing company with a Ferrari sports car. Ferruccio Lamborghini got a problem with the clutch of his new Ferrari. He arranged a meeting with Enzo Ferrari to offer some technical solution to the problem.
Enzo Ferrari got mad at Ferruccio Lamborghini that a tractor maker will now tell him how to make his sports car. Then Enzo sent him on his way telling that you are a tractor driver, do what you do best. Ferruccio Lamborghini didn’t remain quiet and went to Sant’Agata, just outside Bologna to build sports cars and show Enzo Ferrari that how it should be done. Then in 1964 he made some conventional 60’s style cars and then started with 350GT. Featured aluminum alloy V-12 engine and was purchased by many.
That it all started and this the best rivalry since 1960. After the 350GT, Ferruccio Lamborghini didn’t stop there. The Lamborghini we know today became a maker with the introduction of Miura in 1966 at Geneva International Motor Show. The Miura was called the world’s first supercar as it contained 350-horsepower with 4.0-liter V-12 behind it rather than at its front. Today the successor of Miura is Lamborghini’s flagship car, The Aventador with mid-engine V-12. Miura successors models are, Countach, Diablo, Murcielago and the Aventador was unleashed.
Miura’s original production was worthy of the top speed of 177mph. Then Lamborghini introduced the SV (Superveloce) version of Miura which gained 15 more horsepower with the top speed of 186mph. Automobili Lamborghini America’s chief operating officer quoted on Miura: “Even today, if you put it alongside a modern car, you don’t discern a difference in terms of style.” In early 1970s, Lamborghini’s main goal was to not remain one hit wonder with Miura. To avoid it, they introduced The Countach with a look of just “WOW”
Countach carried the legacy of Miura with the same engine but later, Lamborghini upgraded the engine ot a 5.2-liter v-12 that reached 455 horsepower in its 25th anniversary edition of 1988. It became one of the most power car of 1980s.
After that, Lamborghini struggled with the finances. Lamborghini’s Murcielago looked good but felt short on quality and reliability. Then the company was bought by Volkswagen Group and the first thing they introduced was the V-10 engine in their best-selling car, Gallardo which solidify Lamborghini’s Finances and mending its reputation for the quality and reliability. Today, Huracan is carrying the Gallardo’s legacy.
Lamborghini is now a subsidiary corporation with Volkswagen Group but the company remained unchanged from it foundation. In 2017, Lamborghini rolled out Aventador SV in the linage of the great Miura and Countach.
To celebrate company’s 50th anniversary, Lamborghini revealed one of a kind single seater inspired by Batmobile and F-117 Stealth fighter, The Egoists. With the disappointment of customer not owning the car, Lamborghini introduced Veneno that looked like a prototype racing in a 24 hour of LeMans. There are only five coupes and nine roadsters with an estimate price of $3.5 million each.
In the gratitude of the 100th anniversary of Ferruccio Lamborghini’s birth, the company unraveled a beast base on the chassis of Aventador. And it’s called The Centenario. Lamborghini built only 20 coupes and 20 roadsters of this car. The Centenario goes from 0-62mph in 2.8 sec. The interior also features carbon fiber.
